VOTER REGISTRATION AND ELECTIONS UPDATE
High School Mock Elections

Encouraging high school students to participate in the election process

Sacramento County Voter Registration and Elections is staging Mock Elections at 25 County high schools through October 3, 2018. Approximately 12,730 high school juniors and seniors will be participating. The purpose of the Mock Elections is to educate high school students in the voting process, and to encourage them to register and pre-register to vote. The Mock Election experience also provides them with knowledge of the election process so they feel comfortable and motivated to participate when they turn 18. These students will be instructed on how to fill out a registration form, vote a mock ballot with real contests, and experience first-hand the importance of voting.
