Sacramento County uses the Election System and Software’s (ES&S) paper ballot optical scan voting system. This voting system has been certified for use in California by the Secretary of State. Using paper ballots, voters fill in ovals next to their choice. Voters at polling places place their ballots into an ES&S M100 precinct scanner. Vote-By-Mail ballots are tabulated on the ES&S M650 central count scanner. With these systems, you can have confidence that your vote is counted accurately and reliably.
The ES&S Model 100 is a precinct-based, voter-activated paper ballot counter and vote tabulator. Utilizing advanced Intelligent Mark Recognition (IMR) visible light scanning technology, the Model 100 is a proven mainstay for jurisdictions worldwide utilizing precinct-level voting and tabulation.
The ES&S AutoMARK™ voter assist terminal is a ballot-marking system designed to provide privacy and accessibility to voters who are blind, vision-impaired, or have a disability or condition that would make it difficult or impossible to mark a ballot in the usual way. The technology also provides language assistance to voters who are more comfortable speaking a different language or who need help to better understand written instructions.
The ES&S Model 650 Central Ballot Counter is an easy-to-use, high-speed central paper ballot counter and vote tabulator that supports a full range of jurisdiction sizes and ballot complexities. The Model 650 with its advanced OMR scanning technology securely processes a variety of ballot lengths – 14", 17", and 19" – all at a speed of over 300 ballots per minute.
