Sacramento County uses the Dominion Voting Systems paper ballot optical scan voting system. This voting system has been certified for use in California by the Secretary of State. Using paper ballots, voters fill in ovals next to their choice. Voters at Vote Centers may place their ballots into a ballot drop box or return it in the Vote by Mail return envelope. Vote by Mail ballots are tabulated on the Dominion ImageCast Central central count scanner. With this system, you can have confidence that your vote is counted accurately and reliably.

The Dominion Voting Systems ImageCast X is a ballot-marking system designed to provide privacy and accessibility to voters who are blind, vision-impaired, or have a disability or condition that would make it difficult or impossible to mark a ballot in the usual way. The technology also provides language assistance to voters who are more comfortable speaking a different language or who need help to better understand written instructions.
